Here’s a few things for Arizona Artists in the meantime…

Today ~
songbirdcoffeehouse Writing Group
4:30 to 7 pm Sunday, July 19th at Songbird Coffee and Teahouse 812 N 3rd St, Phoenix, AZ 85004
If you are bringing work, please bring five to six hard copies in any style, genre or form (under 3000 words). Please note you do not have to bring work.

A lot of times, when we’re reading submissions for the magazine, we find ourselves thinking, Man. Wouldn’t we love to grab a cup of coffee with the person who wrote this and talk about their work? We love a good writing group. Not only is it one of the most direct and effective methods we know to get better as a writer and improve your work, it’s a great way to meet people and build community.

If you have any questions, please e-mail fourchamberspress@PROTECTED

Tuesday ~
"Capers" by Anu Yadav (solo performance) July 21 at 7:00pm
Phoenix Center For The Arts
1202 N Third St, Phoenix, Arizona 85004
A play about race, class, and the impact of gentrification in low-income neighborhoods.

A stirring blend of theater, documentary and activism, ‘Capers is a one-woman show based on the stories of families at DC’s Arthur Capper/Carrollsburg public housing projects – nicknamed ‘Capers – who protested the government-funded demolition of their neighborhood. Featured in major news outlets including the Washington Post, WAMU-FM, and the Washington City Paper, as well as the documentary Chocolate City, ‘Capers toured nationally to over 5,500 people. It supported the grassroots organizing of public housing residents fighting to return to their community and was included as required course curriculum for the 11th grade at DC’s Bell Multicultural High School, as well as course reading at American University, University of Maryland at College Park and University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Written and performed by Anu Yadav. Directed and developed by Patrick Crowley. http://www.anuyadav.com/capers

The night will feature youth poet, Olivia Neal, and a community panel and discussion on gentrification in Phoenix.

Raven Cafe – Prescott, AZ Sunday Brunch
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Next time mix it up with Sunday Brunch in beautiful Prescott, Arizona
142 N. Cortez St.
The Raven Café is a European style green cafe located in historic downtown Prescott, Arizona.  We feature a full, all-organic espresso bar and a wide variety of small production beers and wines, many of which are organic, pesticide-free, or biodynamic.  Our innovative food is made with organic ingredients from many local sources.  We feature rotating art shows by local and regional visual artists, the best in underground acoustic and local music, and collaborative events with local conservation organizations. The Raven Cafe is toxin free, using only Dr. Bronner’s soap, Seventh Generation and Citrasolv cleaners, iodine sanitizer instead of bleach, and Biokleen surfactant.  Most of our paper products are recycled (even the toilet paper), and our plastic cups are made from corn.  And there is much, much more.  In other words, we try to make every aspect of our business earth-friendly, from the ground up.  We are dedicated to this community and will continue to accept o
ur part as an environmentally conscious establishment.  We will always provide the best quality organic foods, small production wines, and craft beers in a positive, relaxed and friendly setting.  Come sample our menu while enjoying fresh air dining on our rooftop patio.
